The same shit, yesterday is like today.
The only difference is I trust even less of what you say.
It’s calm and hectic at once.
Mentally noting how easy things are these days.
I could stop and cut contact and feel no regret at all.
One of these days I’ll say bye and mean it and an unsuspecting victim will be left in surprise. (Probably not, just apathy.)
But it’s the fact I have this power.
What the hell held me down before?
I thank you, Lord, for breaking these chains.

And what did I find?
I never thought I could want someone so much, because now you’re not here and I’m knee-deep in that old fear.

I think I found some peace in the idea that settling for not being unhappy is more important than pursuing bliss.
Maybe I needed that extra five days I was delayed.
I think I put a big blow on this depression that keeps me drinking.
Stayed at a party last night and was the only sober one. Not a fun time, but it was a goal.
I’m a bit ashamed of thinking about the things that made me not want to go.
